Polar Express Hot Chocolate

Yum

Do you recognize that image?  It is from one of my favorite children's authors!
The illustrations of Chris van Allsburg are AMAZING!
Did the mention of that name help you?  It comes from the Polar Express!

This is a story we'd read on Christmas Eve.  Of course now there is a movie version, but to me the book is still the best.  Your imagination just gets lost in those images!!!

If you know the story/movie, dancing chefs deliver hot chocolate and a cookie to each guest to savor before arriving at the North Pole.  Well, we have our own version of Polar Express Hot Chocolate that will make you believe too!

I am not even going to show you a picture of my hot chocolate because I want you to create your own magical moment with your family.

Here's what you need for each cup, so multiply amounts per person and heat up in a big pot:
3 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp dry baking cocoa powder
3 Tbsp milk
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 Tbsp chocolate chips
whip cream
Stir all of the ingredients together, except for the chocolate chips and whip cream.  Bring to a simmer of medium heat.  Then whisk in the chocolate chips.  Serve with whip cream and chocolate sprinkles to really push it over the top!

This is a very rich hot chocolate...you will never want to go back to the packets of hot chocolate again, but it's Christmas time, so why not go rich?

I hope you create your own magical hot chocolate and can hear the jingle bell...only if you truly believe!

Celebrate the little things that make life sweet!

Christine
