Documentaries and Kettle Corn

Yum
Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
The hubby brought home a couple of movies he picked up at the library.  Cue the eye rolling and the sighing.  You see, my hubby is not known for picking great movies to watch at home.  He searches the documentary movie section of the library and excitedly brings home some movies for us to watch.  Why the eye rolling and sighing?  He has a track record for bringing home some movies that lull you to sleep.  If you are having sleep issues, let me know and I can give you some great recommendations to help with that.  :)  Anyhow, last night we watched the documentary called Muscle Shoals. You Southerners may have heard of it.  It is the story of a recording studio located in a small town along the Tennessee River in Alabama.  Not just any recording studio.  The recording studio cut an amazing amount of famous songs from the Rolling Stones to Aretha Franklin to Alicia Keys.  The list is pretty huge!  The sleepy, Southern town seem to have this draw for musicians. I have to say, it was actually pretty interesting.  Who knew?  So, I did give the hubby a little credit for picking out pretty good movie.  Might want to check it out.  Speaking of movies, you know popcorn is a must!  Heading down Memory Lane this Monday for a sweet popcorn recipe.

A sweet and salty combo perfect for taking to the pool or watching movies.  All movies are better with some Kettle Corn!

Ingredients:
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Pour vegetable oil into a large, heavy duty pot.  Place 1 kernel in the center.  Cover with a lid.  Heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.  Once the kernel pops, add in the rest of the popcorn kernels and the sugar. Replace the lid on the pot. While the popping is taking place, lift the pot and shake it.  Then return to the heat.  Continue alternating on and off the heat until the popping has slowed.  This will prevent the sugar from burning.  Remove from heat and pour into a large bowl, sprinkle with salt.

Popcorn is a great snack any time of year!  Kettle Corn is that perfect little treat for when you are craving something sweet and salty or when you need a little something to keep you awake during a movie (tee hee hee).

Have a wonderful day and celebrate the little things that make life sweet!
Christine
