The Forbidden Fruit? No way!

More and more apples are making their appearances in stores, as it is apple harvest time.

Is the apple really a forbidden fruit?  No way!

How about a recipe for apples called Heavenly Apple Bake?

Heavenly Apple Bake

So simple and truly heavenly!

Gather the following and then start your ovens...

1 package of refrigerated sugar cookie dough

3 apples that have been cored, peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch slices (about 2 cups worth)

2 Tbsp lemon juice

1/4 cup sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 cup flour

2 Tbsp butter

also, 2 Tbsp sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Press cookie dough into a 9 x 13 baking pan, covering completely.

In a bowl, mix apples with the lemon juice, 2 Tbsp sugar and cinnamon.

Spread the apple mixture over the cookie dough.

In another bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar, flour and butter.  Mix together with a fork, until crumbly.

Sprinkle that on top of the apple mixture and bake about 30 minutes until golden brown.

Mr. Food, who used to do cooking segments on local tv stations, whipped up this delicious recipe many years ago.  It is still a great recipe and even more heavenly with a scoop of vanilla or cinnamon- vanilla ice cream!
