Cream Puffs with Strawberry Cream

Yum
Just as promised...a strawberry recipe!
Besides, you did know that April Showers bring sweet treats?

I have been wanting to make my own cream puffs for awhile now.  I decided to use the recipe from Pillsbury because it is easy and the cream puffs turn out FABULOUS!

I made a Strawberry Cream filling...heavenly!  And you know what?
With this basic cream puff recipe, the sky is the limit as to choices for filling!!!

The Cream Puffs are light and airy.
The strawberry cream in the middle?  Just perfect!

When I say perfect...I am not joking.
The strawberry cream is such a yummy compliment to the home-made cream puff.
See that bowl of leftover cream?
Go ahead, save the extra as your private little stash.  Spoonfuls are necessary!

cream puff recipe originally from Pillsbury
Ingredients to make 6 cream puffs:
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
nonstick spray
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Bring water and butter to a boil over medium high heat.  Stir in the flour and salt, stirring quickly until a smooth ball forms.  Remove from heat.  Add 1 egg at a time mixing vigorously to prevent egg from scrambling.  Spray a cookie sheet with nonstick spray.  Spoon into mounds on a greased cookie sheet.  Bake in the oven
for 30 minutes or until lightly golden brown.  Remove from oven.  Poke small slit on top of each cream puff to allow steam to escape.  Cool on a wire rack.
Ingredients for strawberry cream:
2/3 cup whipping cream
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup chopped strawberries
powdered sugar for dusting
Directions:
Mix whipping cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.  Add the chopped strawberries and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.  Split cream puff in half and add strawberry cream.  Refrigerate leftover for your private stash.  Dust with powdered sugar.

Just in time for Spring!
Mother's Day, brunches and graduations all coming soon.
I think this will work quite nicely.

We have a week of rain coming, but April showers bring flowers and Sweet Treats too!
I love it!
