Oh my goodness has it been cold around here! We have days where we aren't going above 0 degrees! But, I am still enthusiastically being a fan of winter so my new year's resolution stays intact! If you didn't know, I decided that my new year's resolution was to embrace all things winter!!!!
Food is one of the best ways to keep yourself warm, other than a zillion layers. So here's a fun one 'cuz it has sure been "chili" around here...get it?
This is actually a Chili Mac recipe. My mom loved Steak n Shake because it reminded her of times in the Midwest as a little girl. Her family always stopped there after a day boating in the Washington, Illinois area. She always had the Chili Mac and now I have a recipe to recreate it!
Chili Mac |
Chili Mac is a mixture of spaghetti and chili...totally yummy and totally good on a cold day!
Chili Mac Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
3 8 oz cans tomato sauce
1 can diced tomatoes
2 Tbsp Worcestshire sauce
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp chili powder
2 cans chili beans
2 cups water
spaghetti noodles
shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream for toppings
Brown ground beef. In
crockpot add the browned beef, tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes, 2 cups
water, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, chili powder and chili beans. Mix.
Cook on low for 2 hours. Next, cook some spaghetti as directed. When done, add chili mixture on top. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream.
Don't you think that would be absolutely perfect on a cold day! Pretty easy and mixes two simple dishes...chili and spaghetti, surely a crowd pleaser!
Celebrate the little things that make life sweet no matter how "chili" it is!
