Lots of football this weekend!
First regular season game for the Chicago Bears. I'd like to get excited, but I am afraid of another disappointing year. I figure if I don't get my hopes up, then maybe I won't suffer through another year of disappointment. Maybe it is the curse of the goat...wait a minute, that's a curse for the Cubs and now they are doing well! Did the curse get transferred? Ha! Anyhow, Saturdays and Sundays have become snackin' time with college games on Saturdays to follow and professional games on Sundays. Lots and lots of football.

Better get some snacks ready...how about with this snack!
I am still harvesting veggies from the garden which is a perfect play for this Veggie Calzone.
This piping hot Veggie Calzone is jam packed with fresh tomatoes, green pepper and basil. Put whatever you got in the garden to create this touchdown winning snack!
Melted cheese....with a delicious crust....just dip slices into a warm tomato sauce.
Less than 15 minutes to bake in the oven. You won't miss a single play!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
3/4 cup tomato, chopped
1 loaf frozen pizza dough, defrosted
1 cup shredded mozzarella
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
tomato sauce (your favorite)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll out defrosted pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. On one long side, place green pepper, tomato, shredded mozzarella and basil. Fold the other long side on top of the ingredients. Press down to form a seal. Place on an ungreased baking sheet into a 400 degree oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Let's get ready for some football!
Celebrate the little things that make life sweet,
Christine
