Hot or Cold Apple Cider Floats

Yum
One day it's hot and steamy.
The next, it is cool and dry.
That's what September is all about as the Midwest transitions from summer to fall.
With it being apple season, here are two great recipes.  One for a hot apple cider float for when those chilly nights creep up on you.  And, one for those days when you still have on shorts and flip flops.

Oh, which to choose!

Cold Apple Cider Floats:
Ingredients:
vanilla ice cream
apple cider
caramel sauce

cinnamon
Directions:
Put 3/4 cup vanilla ice cream into a glass.  Pour cold apple cider over the ice cream.  Add about 1 Tbsp of caramel sauce and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Warm Apple Cider Floats:
Ingredients:
6 cups apple cider
3 apples, chopped
2 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
4 Tbsp caramel
vanilla ice cream
cinnamon sticks
Directions:
Heat apple cider, apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel in a large pot.  Once hot, ladle into mugs. Top with a scoop of ice cream, a dusting of cinnamon and a cinnamon stick.

I don't think you have to choose.  Have a Cold Apple Cider Float during the heat of the day and a Warm Apple Cider Float in the evening after the sun sets.  So, while you are at the apple orchard, make sure to grab some fresh apple cider too.  Then you'll be ready regardless of the temperature.

Celebrate the little things that make life sweet,
Christine
