Run, run, run as fast as you can!
You are going to want to catch this gingerbread recipe for the holidays!
Made with layers of gingerbread brownie and creamy tiramisu, this dessert won't last long!
Remember those Gingerbread Petit Fours I shared last week. The recipe has you line two baking sheets with parchment paper, bake the gingerbread and then freeze one sheet of gingerbread brownie. Well, time to take that out of the freezer because you can make Gingerbread Tiramisu Trifles. One recipe, two different desserts. With the busy holidays, this is an absolutely perfect idea!
Layers of Gingerbread Brownie followed by layers of tiramisu. Make the morning of the evening you want to serve the dessert. Top with adorable candy gingerbread men. Cute and yummy!
I used small brandy sniffers to create mini trifles.
The presentation will wow your family and guests for sure!
Ingredients for Gingerbread Brownie (adapted from Country Living) makes 6:
1 3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup 2 % milk
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup boiling water
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Line 2 9 x 13 cookie sheets with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together flour, sugars, cocoa powder and cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend butter, molasses, milk, egg and egg yolk. Pour wet mixture into dry mixture. Using a wooden spoon, stir until well blended. In a small bowl, whisk together baking soda and boiling water. Pour into the gingerbread batter. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Divide batter among the parchment lined baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Remove and cool.
(Use both to make Gingerbread Petit Fours or save one sheet for Gingerbread Tiramisu Trifles. Freeze unused portion.)
Break one sheet of gingerbread brownies into bite sized pieces for trifles.
Ingredients for Tiramisu:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup mascarpone
1 Tbsp coffee
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
gingerbread candy (Wilton)
Directions:
Whip heavy cream, mascarpone, coffee, powdered sugar and cinnamon until thick. Will take 8-10 minutes.
To assemble:
Into each glass, place a layer of gingerbread brownie followed by a layer of tiramisu. Repeat layers. Top with candy gingerbread men. Store in refrigerator until ready to serve.
Watch the eyes of your family and guests when you place a Gingerbread Tiramisu Trifle in front of them. They will be delighted! Each layer has such a delicious flavor. Such a whimsical dessert!
Celebrate the little things that make life sweet,
Christine
