Frozen Bon Bon Candy Cups

The Oscars are this Sunday!
I think for the first time ever, I have seen 2 of the movies up for awards!!!!
Makes watching so much more interesting for me.
So, today I will share a fun, sweet Academy Award's Night treat, but come back on Sunday for a last minute sweet/salty treat.  You won't want to miss it!

Now for the sweet treat for your awards night viewing.
So, when you go to the movies, what do you get to snack on?  Popcorn?  Candy?  Nachos?
When we go to the movies Skittles is always a favorite and it is the inspiration for this treat:

Frozen Bon Bon Candy Cups

A fun and yummy frozen treat using movie candy!
And guess what?  You could probably even assemble this outside!  Ha!  Ha!  I know, I am feeling snarky about the weather!  But, we are about to have a heat wave, so I guess I should be happy.  (That means it is going to be 32....oooooooh, so warm!  When it's been below zero, that'll feel great or so I am told).  Anyhow, back to the fun Oscar worthy recipe.

Ingredients to make 36:
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp lemon extract
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
nonstick cooking spray
1 quart raspberry sherbet
1 pkg of Skittles
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, cream powdered sugar and butter.  Add vanilla and lemon extract along with the vegetable oil.  Slowly mix in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray a mini muffin tin with nonstick spray.  Press dough into each mini muffin cup, filling halfway only.  Bake at 350 degrees for 9-10 minutes.  Let sit in pan for 5-6 minutes before removing from pan to cool.  Once completely cool, use a small scoop to place a scoop of raspberry sherbet in each cookie cup.  Freeze for 10 minutes.  Remove from freezer and quickly press in the Skittles.  Keep in freezer until ready to serve.

Little frozen treats to snack on while you watch the Oscars or any time.  Switch up the candy or switch up the sherbet flavor to make it your own.  The lemon flavored cookie cup is perfect for holding any sherbet flavor.  You could use lime sherbet to make rainbow bon bon cups for St. Patrick's Day.  Whatever sherbet flavor you use, it's sure to be a hit!

So what was your favorite nominated move?
I hoping The Grand Budapest Hotel wins big!  :)
