Strawberry and Marshmallow Crispy Treats

Back in the day, before texting, the hubby and I used to write love letters to each other.  In fact, I have an entire box full of them in our basement.  Now, when one of us travels, there are always little love notes hidden throughout the suitcase.  And every once in awhile, I still leave little notes for the girls when I visit at college girl's apartment or at high school girl's desk.  I think little notes of love or encouragement always puts a smile on the recipient's face.  So don't wait until Valentine's Day to share the love through a handwritten note.  I also think these heart shaped Strawberries and Marshmallow Crispy Treats will not only put a smile on someone's face, but will make the belly very happy!  Better yet, combine the two...a note and a special little treat!

These heart shaped crispy treats have a strawberry marshmallow flavor sure to melt anyone's heart.

If you can still bring treats to school, wouldn't these be just perfect for a classroom party?

Book Club or just packed in a lunch...easy, special treats for Valentine's Day!

5 ingredients!  Yep, just five ingredients to make these cuties!

Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
10.5 ounces mini marshmallows
4 tsp strawberry jello
6 cups crispy rice cereal
1/2 cup mini marshmallows cut in half
Directions:
Line and 8 x 8 inch square pan with parchment paper.  In a large pot, melt butter over low heat.  Stir in the strawberry jello.  Add the 10.5 ounce bag of mini marshmallows.  Stir quickly.  When melted, remove from heat and stir in the crispy rice.  Once the crispy rice is coated, press into the square pan.
Cool.  Punch out heart shapes.  Use a wooden spoon handle to poke holes into each heart.  Add a marshmallow piece into each hole.

Crispy rice treats aren't anything knew, but they sure are special when they are strawberry flavored and cut into heart shapes.  See, it's easy to take the ordinary to the extraordinary!

The oldest known valentine that is still in existence today was written by Charles, the Duke of Orleans to his wife. Do you know where he wrote it?  Apparently in the Tower of London.  Who knew?  I think you can write a little note to someone you love while sitting in your kitchen.  I am sure the sentiment can be the same.  Ha!

Celebrate the little things that make life sweet,
Christine
